2. Inspection of ball80 chain guide:
2.1 Preparations:
- Position test calotte PK80 on a closed and locked chain guide by tilting sideways (grab handle of test calotte must not face towards driving direction). Set clearance between top edge of test calotte and bottom edge of the chain guide to 0,5mm using the adjustment device on your machine (depending on product and type, the adjustment screw is located on top or at the bottom of the chain guide). (see Figure 2)

Figure 2
2.2 Check vertical clearance:
- Move chain guide vertically to check whether clearance of 0,5mm changes, readjust if necessary. (See Fig. 3)
- Chain guide has reached its wear limit, when readjustment is no longer possible due to lacking range of the adjustment screw. Ball coupling must be completely replaced when adjustment to 0,5mm clearance is no longer possible even when employing a new chain guide. This might be the case when the mounting of the adjusting pins is worn.

3. Inspection/Maintenance of the test calotte PK80:
For daily use, it is recommended to check the individual test areas of Walterscheid calotte PK80 once a year according to the dimensions in Fig. 4 with appropriate measuring equipment. Depending on the actual number of uses, this period can be extended to 60 months. If the deviations are more than 0.1 mm, the PK80 test cap must be replaced.
