2. Inspection of different hitch devices:

2.1 Checking of Walterscheid coupling ball50: (see Figure 2)
- Place the gauge (marked „coupling ball 50“) onto ball50 in driving direction. The gap between the gauge and the edge of the ball shows the degree of wear. The smaller the gap, the closer the ball is to its wear limit. Nominal dimension ball 50: 50 mm, max. wear of 1 mm, wear limit: 49 mm.
- The ball50 has reached the wear limit when the gauge encloses the ball completely.

2.2 Checking the Walterscheid calottes 80 mm: (see Fig. 4)
- Place the special tool (marked „coupling head 50“) into the calotte. Use the flashlight to light up the inner zone of the calotte. Make sure that the special tool is positioned in the direction of travel. The gap between the gauge and the surface of the calotte indicates the wear limit. The smaller the gap, the closer the calotte approaches its wear limit. Nominal dome size: 50 mm, max. wear limit of 1.0 mm, 41.0 mm.
- The spherical cap has reached the wear limit when the gauge touches the center of the spherical cap.

3. Inspection/Maintenance of the special tool PL-ZWL50: (see Figure 5)
For daily use, it is recommended to check the individual test areas of Walterscheid special tool PL-ZWL50 once a year according to the dimensions in figure 5 with appropriate measuring equipment. Depending on the actual number of uses, this period can be extended to 60 months. Deviations of more than 0,1mm necessitate a replacement of special tool PL-ZWL50.

The gauge must be cleaned after use with standard cleaning agents. Use only in clean and undamaged condition. Unauthorized modifications on special tool are not permitted.
