1. Use and wear limits:

Ball couplings with a nominal diameter of 80 mm
Calottes with a nominal diameter of 80 mm

2.1 Checking Walterscheid coupling ball80: (see Fig. 3)

Place the corresponding measuring range of the gauge (marked „ball 80“) onto ball80 in driving direction. The gap between the gauge and the edge of the ball shows the degree of wear. The smaller the gap, the closer the ball is to its wear limit. Nominal dimension ball 80: 80 mm, wear limit: 78.5 mm.
The ball 80 has reached the wear limit when the gauge completely encloses the ball.

2.2 Checking the Walterscheid calottes 80 mm: (see Fig. 4)

Place the corresponding measuring of the gauge (marked calotte) into the calotte. Use the flashlight to light up the inner zone of the calotte. The gap between the gauge and the surface of the calotte indicates the wear limit. The smaller the gap, the closer the calotte approaches its wear limit. Nominal dimension: 80 mm, wear limit: 81,5 mm.
The spherical cap has reached the wear limit when the gauge touches the center of the spherical cap.

3. Inspection/Maintenance of PL-KK80 special tool (see Fig. 5):

For daily use, it is recommended that the individual test areas of the Walterscheid PL-KK80 special tool are checked once a year using appropriate measuring equipment in accordance with the dimensions in Fig. 5. Depending on the actual number of uses, this period can be extended to 60 months. If the deviations are more than 0.1 mm, the test gauge must be replaced.

The gauge must be cleaned after use with commercially available cleaning agents. Use only in clean and undamaged condition. Unauthorized modifications to the test special tool are not permitted

Safety instructions

Important:

To avoid injury, protective gloves, safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn during all dismantling/ assembly actions described in this chapter.

Environment:

Lubricants can enter the environment. Environmental pollution: Collect, store and correctly dispose of lubricants in suitable containers.

Warning:

The pertinent safety regulations must be observed when coupling and uncoupling. No one may stand between the vehicles. The coupling may only be operated in locked condition. When coupling and uncoupling, the drawbar must be as horizontal as possible relative to the coupling.

The user is obliged to always operate the Connecting device in perfect condition and to forbid its use by unauthorised persons. The loads indicated on the type plate may not be exceeded. Unauthorised conversion or modification of the coupling head is not permitted.

Caution:

Never uncouple when the trailer is pulling or pushing. Use of force on the hand lever can destroy the mechanism.

Important:

Use only original Walterscheid spares when replacing parts. If the vehicle owner does not have the appropriate skilled workers and the necessary technical equipment, the replacement may only be performed by a specialist workshop.

The checks must be carried out at the appropriate intervals in order to prevent damage to the coupling.

Note:

The pertinent regulations (e.g. Accident Prevention Regulations for Vehicles) and the attachment guidelines of the vehicle manufacturers must be observed when installing the coupling! The coupling must be attached to the vehicle in accordance with the requirements in Appendix VII of Directive 94/20 / EC (see Appendix I, Section 5.10).
